Meet the 2016 Youth Hub Fellows

On December 4th, Youth Impact Hub Oakland screened some of the most innovative short films created in 2015 in Oakland, including videos produced by Simphony Productions, a youth-led media production company that was launched after a series of workshops with Youth SEED in 2013. The 2016 Youth Hub Fellows presented their social enterprise project ideas, which they will be developing over the course of the next year in our Youth Hub Fellowship Program.  Click here for photos, and save the date for our People's Pitch Event, May 14, 12pm-6pm, where all 10 teams will present their projects for seed funding!

Youth SEED & All Stars

Youth SEED is proud to announce that we have been selected to join All Stars Helping Kids' newest grantee cohort, along with 2 Gen Equity, Oakland Lacrosse and The Hidden Genius Project.  Over the next 3 years, we will partner to strengthen our organizations to better serve low-income youth across the Bay Area.  On December 3, we attended the Board of Directors and Grantee Social in San Jose and heard from former grantees and the founder of the foundation, Mr. Ronnie Lott himself!

Meet the Allies 2015!

Meet DeMario Lewis, who serves as Co-working Space Manager at Youth Impact Hub Oakland. DeMario is a part of Public Allies, an Americorps youth leadership development program.  He has aspirations of starting his own non-profit organization that will be a lasting and powerfully positive force within the community. Demario and the rest of his Public Allies Cohort are hosting a Meet the Allies Event at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center Friday, December 18, 2015 6:00PM - 8:00PM. RSVP here.

Youth Leadership in 2016

We have hired Desire Johnson and Linda Sanchez, (alumni from the 2015 Youth Hub Fellowship), to co-facilitate the 2016 Youth Hub Fellowship beginning in January!  Linda just received a $10,000 grant to implement her social enterprise Fuerza Indigena throughout 2016, training migrant women from Guatemala to create their own eco-apparrel. Desire has secured multiple grants for her enterprise The BIZ Stoop and secured employment for several high opportunity young people in Oakland.  These two will bring added depth and passion to our program, and inspire the 2016 Fellows to dream big!
